The Best All-Rounder Foundation | L'oréal True Match

The fact that I love my decent coverage, long lasting bases is definitely not a secret to anyone. That is why I was surprised to find myself loving this foundation so much, as it's not advertised as being either one of those. Of course, the beauty blogosphere has been raving about this for years now, but I only got into it last year and it definitely had to grow on me. Slowly. With my skin improving its condition over the last few months, I started to feel like the cement-like foundations (e.g. Estée Lauder DW) were making my face look unnecessary dry and cakey at times. I remembered about trying the L'oréal True Match Foundation before and thought I'd give it another go. And I love it.

Firstly, the packaging is nice and small, with a pump (thank God!) and a plastic lid. The only problem that I have with it is that when there's a small amount of foundation left in the bottle you have to throw it away. You can't reach it because you can't unscrew the freaking pump off. But we can get past that, it's fine.

The shade range is what L'oréal is proud of when it comes to this foundation, as it comes in lots and lots of shades, depending on your country. Unfortunately, my true match is DW2, which has been discontinued, so thank you very much. However, if I mix DW1 with DW3, I can get it just right. This is probably the most yellow based foundation I have found at the drugstore and I absolutely love that.

The consistency is very liquidy. A lot more liquidy that I am used to, as I usually prefer full cover foundations. However, it provides amazing coverage for the fact that it is so blendable and natural feeling. It looks like skin once it's all blended in and it doesn't feel heavy at all. The finish is pretty matte but also luminous. It doesn't cling to dry patches and it blurred out imperfections pretty good.

The only downside for me is the lasting power. I have extremely oily skin and even the most long lasting foundation will not last more than 6 hours without getting oily on my skin. This one only lasts for 2-3 hours maximum, before I start to look really greasy. It transfers easily and can loose its coverage if you try to blot. It can also fade on the jaw line by the end of the evening but I haven't found any foundations that don't do that on me.

I feel like this would please anyone who want a flawless finish but still likes a natural look. If you have dry (make sure to moisturize), normal, combination or even oily skin, you'll absolutely love this foundation. If you are super oily like me, you can try it and see if you love it as much as I do, once you get pass the staying power issue. For £10 I think it's worth it, as it gives the most beautiful finish I have ever tried.

  3. I really love this foundation. It's amazing, with a very good coverage and a decent lasting power for sure. I think L'Oreal is the best when it comes to drugstore foundations, because the Infallible one is also amazing, and if you love a good coverage and long lasting foundations, you should try it ASAP. Nice post xx
