L'Oréal Infallible 24h-Matte Foundation | Could It Be The One?

I am finally writing this long overdue post, about my favorite beauty product at the moment. I've always had a love-hate relationship with foundations. I really need them to cover up my imperfections and I love the fact that they make your face look so nice and perfect..in photos, or from the distance. But often, in real life things aren't so pretty. I always found that most of them make my skin look weird, too dry, too oily, cakey, just not nice. Luminous hydrating ones make me look like a disco ball in less than two hours and really powdery ones flake or ball up by the end of the day. I never thought I could find the right one but I did, it's the L'Oréal Infallible 24h-Matte Foundation!

I'll keep it short in term of the packaging: I love it. It's simple, small, in a tube, travel friendly and makes it really easy to get all of the product out at the end. I think it's perfect.

The shade range is not very good, unfortunately, at least not for the European version which has really pink-toned shades, compared to the American one with more of a yellow undertone to it. I am super yellow and I found it really difficult to find my shade, especially since I bought it online, but after a lot of youtube videos and google searches, I think I made the right choice. The only slightly yellow-toned shade is 22 Radiant Beige which tends to be a tad too dark and orange on me. The great news is that I can combine it with The Body Shop's Shade Adjusting Drops (review coming up soon) and lighten in to my perfect match!

Now to the product itself. The consistency is a lot more watery that I thought it would be, considering it's presented as a medium to full coverage foundation. However, it's not as watery as True Match. Somewhere between that and Revlon Colorstay. It's very thin and blends really fast, but you have to do it as soon as you apply it as it sets pretty quickly.

With the first thin layer I find it gives a decent coverage..let's say medium. After that, I tend to go over with another one and it gets medium to full coverage. It's very buildable, which you wouldn't really expect with such a matte foundation.

The finish it gives is what really impresses me. It's such a skin-like finish! It looks matte but not flat, natural and luminous. Just like healthy skin, but without the annoying shine.

Another amazing thing about it is that it lasts the whole day on my super oily skin! My skin does get oily throughout the day, but I've learned to embrace that. It's more of a natural glow rather than a disgusting shine, which is actually pretty nice. I love the fact that it doesn't disappear around my mouth or on my jaw-line, like every other foundation does on me (except Double Wear, but that's cement), and it doesn't oxidize either.

I find it very hard to remember that this is a drugstore foundation that retails for about £8 and that it does more than high-end foundations have done for me! I would highly recommend this one if you have combination to oily skin, need a decent coverage and want your base to last all day. If you have dry skin, you might want to try it with a good moisturizer and see if it works for you, although it might emphasise some dry patches. If that's the case, you might want to try the original Infallible formula, the Stay Fresh one, which is a lot more hydrating.
Over all, I think I won't be using another foundation for a long time from now, haha!

Have you tried this one? What do you think about it?

  1. Wow it really does look just like skin when you blend it out! I never realized that make-up companies make different shades for America and Europe but actually that makes so much sense...

    Great review!

  3. I haven't tried this one, but it sounds lovely. I usually prefer matte finishes over dewy ones, as I am "glowy" by myself, so I guess I will put it on my list if I can find a color match.

  7. I'm actually really happy that I've come across this post! I myself prefer foundations that are a little more luminous, but my younger sister has oily skin and is in search of a solid, budget-priced matte foundation.
Excellent, extensive review. I'll have to have her try this one out.

  14. This is such a great, in depth review! :) I've never tired this foundation, and I tend to go for products with a little more coverage since my skin has a ton of redness. :( x This seems like a decent everyday foundation, though, I like that it's lightweight and good for oily skin! x

  18. I haven't really heard much about this one, it's mainly the true match one I've read a bit about. The coverage sounds amazing though and I love how the finish is still so natural. I also can't wait to see how you use the body shop drops with it as I always used to pick up the wrong shade :)

  19. Sounds like this product is pretty amazing! I really suck at trying to match myself to foundations and concealers and such - so it's a shame that there isn't much choice!

  21. Such a great review, hon! You always put so much work and thought into your posts, and I love it! Such a pleasure reading them every time :)
I haven't tried this foundation (no clue why I haven't got my hands on it yet). However, I have the same struggle - choosing the right shade. So many foundation seem to have this pink undertone so I am always on the hunt for perfect beige/sand/tan etc. shades :)
Thanks for sharing, girlie. Hope your week is going fab ;)
